Personal Statement

As a pediatric emergency physician, I am committed to delivering the highest quality of care for children by integrating rigorous evidence-based approaches with compassion and empathy. Beyond the bedside, I strive to maintain an active role in community enrichment, health promotion, and physician wellness. As an educator and researcher, my focus is on equipping future physicians with informatics-driven solutions that foster transformative and sustainable improvements in clinical practice. Ultimately, my goal is to advance pediatric emergency care while fostering a culture of innovation, wellness, and lifelong learning.

Biographical Info

Dr. Mehrin Islam is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine, an Attending Physician at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, and a liaison for ED Informatics & Analytics. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Global Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she earned her medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. She completed her Pediatrics residency at University of Texas Southwestern/Children's Health in Dallas, followed by her Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Islam’s academic interests focus on bioinformatics, global health, community advocacy, and physician wellness. She is fluent in Bangla and proficient in Spanish.
